Email: Yaqoob

Yaqoob Ghaznavi was born in India, raised in Pakistan and studied in West Berlin, Germany. He has a bachelor in Math and Physics and a master in Wirtschafts-Ingenieurwesen (describing what it means is a poem itself – let us say that it has nothing to do with poetry) and earns a living doing accounting and bookkeeping.

An avid reader his life long, in his sixties he got bitten by the twin passions of writing poetry and running long-distance. He is often crazy with one or the other of these obsessions.

In 1972, he immigrated to Canada with his German wife and two small children. Except for a couple of years in USA and another four years in Hong Kong, he has lived since in Toronto and Kleinburg.

Yaqoob is or has been an active member of Phoenix Poets’ Workshop (Toronto), Pelican Group (Oakville), South West Ontario Poets (Burlington), Renaissance Conspiracy Group (Toronto), The Ontario Poetry Society, Vaughan Poet’s Circle (Vaughan) and Muse Co-Operative Poetry group (Toronto).
